Do you talk to your dogs?
I often find myself just chatting away at my dog, who of course is seemingly looking very interested in what I have to say! That's why I love talking to him...he doesn't disagree, he never has a better idea and doesn't argue. If you want to learn a little more about talking to dogs, check my Squidoo lens on it. I put some helpful information in there. It is called Can talking to my dog improve his behavior?

Shock collars have GOT to go!
If you love your pets as much as I do, then you probably agree that shock collars are one of the most cruel products there are to train dogs! There are so many other (and much more effective) ways to improve your dog's behavior. If you absolutely MUST go the way of the collar, make it a spray collar which sprays a citrus mist (dog's don't like citrus smell) when the dog barks or engages in another unwanted behavior. Please never use the shock collars though.
Effective dog training takes time and patience and never involves pain to the animal. Training a dog is very much like training a child. You would never put a shock collar on a child and you should never put one on a dog. I feel very strongly about not using shock collars. I wrote this Squidoo lens about the subject.
I have owned dogs most of my life, and I am 40 something (okay, closer to 50.) In that time I have learned a lot by trial and error. Then I discovered Sit-Stay-Fetch.
It covered everything you could possibly imagine about training dogs and also caring for them and grooming! Right now, they have a 6 day mini-course, so it won't cost you anything to find out some of the fabulous information they have on dogs. Give it a try!
In this blog I'll discuss effective methods of improving your dog's behavior and also give you some interesting sites to look at, or products you may be interested in. If I come across freebies, I'll share those too!
